09/10 Presidents ReportPresidents report for Sailability Pittwater for the 2009/10 season. This last season has been one of much hard work andachievement. Notably the construction of our storage, teaching and amenitiescentre has been the highlight. After many years in the planning it was openedby our Patron, John Brogden and Maria Dalmon last November. This facilitytogether with the new Council shade at the launching area has vastly improvedour operation and comfort for volunteers and clients alike. Training of our volunteers, Special Olympics and Paralympicsrepresentatives has been carried out enthusiastically at both Roland Reserveand Newport. The commitment of our volunteers is a credit to all and thestandard has yet again been raised this year in all facets of our volunteering.Committing time to training is time very well spent indeed. Maintenance as usual has been ongoing culminating in aworking bee at the end of the season. The electrics on the Liberty boats iscausing some concern due to their age and lack of spares. For some the highlight of the year would have been thecompeting in the World Masters Games at Dobroyd. This was sailed in atrocious weather conditions but members who took part acquitted themselves admirably. The club is in a healthy state of finances and it was notconsidered necessary to undertake any major fund raising in the forthcomingyear for capital equipment or repairs. Once again the ladies came to the fore and put on two mostenjoyable evenings at the Pittwater Aquatic Club and also a magnificentafternoon tea at the opening of the Roland Reserve facility. The next sailing season will bring us some new challenges. Ibelieve that we need to train more of our volunteers to take on higherresponsibilities/roles within our organisation. It will be necessary to raise funds for our Special Olympicrepresentatives for the 2011 games in Athens and we will be seeking to becomean accredited Yachting Association Training Establishment. Finally I should like to thank the committee members whomeet very regularly to keep us steaming ahead on a proper course. Malcolm Murray.
Presidents Report for Sailability Pittwater 2008/09 season. I am pleased to report on yet another successful season for Sailability Pittwater. There have been many highlights, including Allan Jones becoming President of Sailability NSW, an organization he has served for many years as well as beingour Commodore and chief organizer since our beginning. I am personally elated that we finally got the money required to build the storage shed at Rowland Reserve, which will make our whole operation there much easier,as well as giving us a base for training and socializing. Special thanks to Malcolm, Ian and Barry, for all the hard work getting the slab laid. We alsohope that Pittwater Council will have erected the new shade at Rowland Reserve before the new season starts, as they also received funding for this from NSWDSR. The plan is to dedicate this to the memory of Janice Jones in recognition of the tireless work she did for many, but our group in particular. Under some hardship we did manage to stage the 2009 State Titles at Lake Wallace, however this did put undue stress on our volunteer team, due to the unexpected manpower shortage from the local group. It is a good venue, especially for the social activities, and should be greatly improved with good facilities at the lake. I am loath to single out anyone, however I cannot overlook the outstanding efforts of Malcolm Murray in so many areas of our operations. He coordinated and keeps updated our Operation Manual, which is seen as a model for the organization, has modified our 303 trailer to be much safer to carry boats on long trips, taught a few of us to tie proper knots, run some excellent training sessions on boat rigging, ensures new volunteers are properly briefed and many more. You are great asset to our group. All this is only possible through the generous support from our Volunteers and our Committee Members meeting regularly to keep things on track.
